So who or what is VAVelocity?
VAVelocity is run by me, Naomi Campbell. Originally from the deep south (Surrey) and after a number of years in Yorkshire (I have been told I’m an honorary Yorkshire woman) I am now based in Kiltarlity in the Scottish Highlands.
Aside from retail jobs when I was wee, I’ve spent my whole working life in administration roles. These have been in sectors as diverse as Retail, Education, Legal, IT, Oil and Gas and Property. This experience has provided me with a vast knowledge of how different sectors operate whilst also bringing a variety of skills with me along the way.
I have Pitman certificates in most Microsoft packages as well as several additional qualifications such as bookkeeping and secretarial courses. I have also studied and obtained my ABTA certificate. In 2018 I won Scottish VA of the Year at the BeMyVA Awards after winning runner-up in the same awards in 2014 and 2017. In 2014 I was also awarded Moray Business Women of the Year. This year I was a finalist for Highland Business Woman of the Year.
I’m a mum to an adventurous toddler who shows me life in a whole new light. I have a love of all things historical. Historical expeditions are my favourite specially to Castles and Houses. In my advancing years, my love of gardening has increased, and I’m often found exploring gardens with my family which also remind me of happy memories spent with my grandparents. I love reading (I always say you can never have too many books!) though reading has somewhat slowed since the arrival of my son. Another thing that’s come with age is my love of classical music with my favourite being The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Ultimately, I’m down to earth with a cracking sense of humour and I love solving people’s organisational dilemmas. Empathetic to boot I’m a great sounding board for you to run your whizz kid business ideas past...

Naomi prepared a template for a very detailed customer service survey and loaded it on my behalf in the acceptable format on to Survey Monkey. Could I have done it myself? I doubt it, and certainly not to the high degree of style and professionalism that Naomi provided. Also, because she is such an expert, she completed the pretty difficult task very promptly, and provided a professional opinion based upon her experience of possible improvements, which I was pleased to accept. Naomi recently took a briefing paper I had written and produced a presentation for me to use at a board meeting. Despite having no previous knowledge of the subject area and no guidance on the content she was able to take the highly technical subject matter and identify and summarise the key points into a very cohesive document in a short period of time. We used VAVelocity to help us when we were taking over another firm. This involved the incorporation of that business into ours and the transfer of staff into our premises. We had our thoughts about this but no coherent structure of how the takeover should be organised. Naomi of VAVelocity sat with us to get details of what we planned; she then took our thoughts and converted our ideas into a schedule of work to be done, a timescale and an action plan. This saved us a great deal of time, covered some areas that we had not considered and ensured that we had a proper plan to follow. The job title of “VA” is doing a disservice to her skillset. Chief Operations Officer is more accurate in our case.
